Travis Hafner has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Cleveland Indians because of a sore right shoulder.

Hafner's roster spot was taken by left-hander Rich Rundles, recalled from Triple-A Columbus.

Hafner missed much of the 2008 season with a weak shoulder that required surgery in October. He expressed confidence in spring training that the strength was returning to his shoulder, but has been in and out of the Cleveland lineup of late.

In 17 games for the Indians this season, the designated hitter has batted .270 (17-for-63) with 10 runs, five doubles, four home runs and eight RBI. He has a .370 on-base percentage.
